Kindred Table, a new chef-driven restaurant and bar, to open in West Lansing
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
LANSING, Mich. (Dec. 1, 2025) — Kindred Table, a new locally owned, chef-driven restaurant and bar, will open inside the Crowne Plaza hotel in West Lansing on Saturday, Dec. 13.
Inspired by months of conversations with local residents, the restaurant will serve New American cuisine, offering fresh takes on familiar dishes and drinks in an approachable yet elevated space.
Restaurant Story
“We heard West Lansing loud and clear that they wanted something authentic, not another predictable chain restaurant," said Cindy Bowen, general manager at the Crowne Plaza Lansing. “We have created a space that is truly unique to Lansing: meeting the needs of both locals and travelers while adding in our decades of experience in hospitality.”
Bowen explained that the heart of the restaurant is found in its name. “We put ‘Kindred’ in our name because it describes people who feel like family, and ‘Table’ because it represents the place where they gather,” she said. “Together, these words reflect who we want to be for this community, and there is no better time to bring it to life than the holiday season."
The Venue
Spanning nearly 3,000 square feet, the 130-seat restaurant blends the buzz of a social hub with the warmth of a family dining room. The space centers on an impressive, 17-seat destination bar that drives the room’s energy. The dining area is anchored by a pair of locally crafted wooden tables that serve as a symbol of the restaurant’s name. Rounding out the layout are four private dining rooms, offering dedicated spaces for meetings, celebrations and work gatherings.
“Our location brings in a steady mix of business and leisure travelers,” said Bowen. “With direct highway access, ample parking, and a diverse set of private dining rooms, we offer a comfortable place to meet and share a meal without interruptions.”
Culinary Vision
That community-focused philosophy extends to the kitchen, led by Executive Chef Stephney Florek. “The menu is designed with the belief that everyone should have a seat at the table,” Chef Steph said. “We offer an affordable price point for every occasion, whether guests are catching up with friends over appetizers or celebrating a big night out.”
In the kitchen, items are made from scratch and often feature locally sourced ingredients. Chef Steph noted that her favorite moments come when a guest thinks, “I know this dish, but I have never had it like this before.”
The menu also includes a selection of vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options. She explained that dietary needs should never require giving up flavor, and that every dish was held to the same culinary standard as the rest of the menu.
Menu Highlights
Dinner highlights include Philly cheesesteak egg rolls, smoked wings, quesabirria tacos and a Wagyu smash burger. Steak selections range from a center-cut filet and marbled ribeye to a tender Wagyu and a vegan filet that serves as a worthy counterpart to traditional steaks. Seafood options feature citrus garlic walleye, cedar plank salmon with pomegranate glaze and crusted lake trout.
Desserts are prepared in-house, anchored by a six-layer gluten-free chocolate pistachio cake that marries the nostalgia of Detroit’s Bumpy Cake with the trending flavors of Dubai chocolate. Additional offerings include a Cherries Jubilee Napoleon and a classic crème brûlée.
Kindred Table will serve a full breakfast menu daily from 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Dishes include elevated staples such as chimichurri steak and eggs, creamy Southern grits, wild mushroom and goat cheese omelets, and bacon and egg tacos.
Beverage Program
The beverage program mirrors the menu’s blend of comfort and creativity, featuring craft cocktails, zero-proof drinks and Michigan-forward beers. The signature “Kindred Spirit” combines Detroit City Distillery bourbon with Lillet Blanc, Amaro Nonino and an orange rosemary cordial. The bar also offers rotating local drafts alongside a vibrant selection of spirit-free cocktails, shaking up fresh juices and house-made syrups for a full-flavor experience without the alcohol.
